Trees for Troops® is returning for the 2026 holiday season, bringing free, farm-grown Christmas trees to service members and military families across the country.

And this year, the program is growing!

In 2026, 100 military bases will receive Trees for Troops Christmas trees, including 16 locations participating for the very first time.

That means more military communities, more families and more opportunities to spread a little Christmas spirit to those who serve.

About Trees for Troops

Trees for Troops is a program of the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation that provides free, farm-grown Christmas trees to U.S. service members and military families.

The national program began in 2005 when FedEx partnered with the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation to expand the Christmas tree industry’s longstanding efforts to support military families.

Since its launch, Trees for Troops has delivered hundreds of thousands of Christmas trees to military installations throughout the United States and overseas.

2026 marks the 21st year of Trees for Troops, continuing a holiday tradition that brings together Christmas tree growers, businesses, volunteers, donors and military communities.

The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and public donations and sponsorships help make the Trees for Troops program possible each year.

How Do Military Families Get a Free Christmas Tree in 2026?

Trees for Troops delivers donated Christmas trees to participating military installations, but each installation determines how and when its trees will be distributed.

Depending on the installation, distribution may require advance registration, a voucher or other eligibility verification, while other locations may distribute trees on a first-come, first-served basis.

If your installation is included on the 2026 list below, watch for announcements from your local MWR, Family Readiness Center, MCCS, Fleet & Family Support Center or other installation support organization.

These local announcements will typically provide the exact pickup date, time, location, eligibility requirements and registration information.

MilitaryBridge Tip: Don’t wait until the trees arrive to start looking for information. Some installations may require advance registration, and availability is limited.

Is My Military Base Participating in Trees for Troops 2026?

If your installation appears above, it is scheduled to receive Trees for Troops Christmas trees for the 2026 holiday season.

However, being stationed at a participating installation does not guarantee a tree. The number of trees available is limited, and individual installations determine eligibility, registration requirements and how trees are distributed.

Watch your installation’s official website, social media pages, MWR and family support communications for local details.

Want to Donate a Christmas Tree to a Military Family?

You don’t have to live near a military installation to support Trees for Troops.

Each year, participating Christmas tree farms and retailers serve as Official Trees for Troops Locations, giving members of the public an opportunity to purchase a fresh Christmas tree that will be donated to a military family.

Trees are also donated by Christmas tree growers and farms across the country.

Because participating donation locations and collection dates can change each year, check the official Trees for Troops website for the latest 2026 Official Trees for Troops Locations and donation instructions. This list will be updated to 2026 shortly. However, the locations have remained the same for several years so it will give you a good idea.

Financial donations can also be made to the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation to help support the Trees for Troops program and its mission.

Don’t Miss Your Base’s Trees for Troops Distribution

Trees for Troops is an incredible holiday tradition, but trees are limited and distribution procedures vary by installation.

If your base is on the 2026 list, watch your local military installation’s announcements closely as the holiday season approaches. Registration and pickup information may be released through MWR, MCCS, Fleet & Family Support, Family Readiness or other installation organizations.

MilitaryBridge will continue to update this page with additional Trees for Troops 2026 dates, locations and distribution information as details become available.
