Nauticus is an exciting interactive science and technology center that explores the naval, economic, and nautical power of the sea. Home of the Battleship Wisconsin, Nauticus features Battleship Wisconsin-related exhibits, hands-on exhibits, national-caliber traveling exhibits, HD films on a giant screen, sharks, the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, and more!
Nauticus offers Changing Exhibits
Guns, Sweat, and Gears: Anatomy of a Battleship.
Relive the past with enormous gun devices, tools and personal mementos from Norfolk's own Battleship Wisconsin. This exhibit includes a 2,400 pound military analog computer, a 12-foot long optical range finder, WWII racks (bunks), galley equipment, shell sleds and cradles for moving the Wisconsin’s 16 inch gun ammunition, a 48-star U.S. flag, and dozens of never-before-seen archival images.
Nauticus is also home to The Battleship Wisconsin:
Berthed at Nauticus, the Battleship Wisconsin is one of the largest and last battleships ever built by the U.S. Navy. Explore its deck through a self-guided tour or, with an additional charge, our guided Topside Tour that will take you back in time to experience this majestic ship that earned five battle stars during WW II.
You'll also find many Permanent Exhibits at Nauticus!
Nauticus has a Digital Hi-Definition and 3D films that are included in your admission:
The 350-seat Nauticus Theater is the place to watch our hi-def and 3D films. Recent upgrades to the Nauticus Theater include a Christie CP2000 digital High Definition DLP projector , an EVS Airbox High Definition video server (the same servers used to broadcast the Olympics in High Definition) and Lexicon and Symetrix digital audio processors.
Our guests now watch The Living Sea and Wild Ocean on our 50 ft x 24 ft screen in glorious High Definition and 3D. Our standard definition film, USS Wisconsin: The Last Battleship, is available to groups upon special request.
