The 3rd Annual Virginia Run For The Fallen

30 April 2015 by

April 30-May 3, 2015  Fort Story to Arlington National Cemetery. 4-days 250 miles "THE RUN FOR THE FALLEN"

Today, kicks off the journey to honor Virginia's Fallen in the 3rd annual run.  Maybe you will be lucky enough to witness this beautiful site or you can follow their journey and see where they will be next.  Below is information about "The Run For The Fallen".

Although we visibly run one mile to honor and remember each fallen hero from the current conflicts, the total run to Arlington National Cemetery represents every service member from Virginia who laid down their lives for freedom's cause. Thousands have sacrificed to preserve our way of life. And as you give tribute to  this particular hero please remember others who have given the ultimate sacrifice throughout history. Virginia being rich in the foundation of this country has given many of her sons and daughters. Regardless of war or conflict, branch of service or method of death, we ultimately run for them all, honoring their service and sacrifice, and remembering  that they each gave up a future so that we could have ours. We give tribute to them by name wherever possible and to the sacrifice of the families they left behind.

The first weekend of May, we run across Virginia to raise awareness for the lives of those who fought and died, to rejuvenate their memories and keep their spirits alive and to aid in the healing process for the Virginia residents whose lives have been affected by the war.  Each mile of the Run is dedicated to a Virginia Military Fallen Hero and the Core Run Team will stop at every Hero Marker (every mile) and present an American Flag and a personal biographical card to the waiting family members, friends and comrades. The intent is to create a 245+ mile long memorial trail through Virginia.

We are dedicated to Honor and Remember as we blaze a 236 mile tribute trail to Arlington National Cemetery. One Mile ~ One Marker ~ One Hero

The Hero Wall Names, Bios and Hero Markers of Virgina Fallen Heroes will appear in the drop downs. Move cursor over Hero Wall link above.
All Service Members honored are listed below by last name. Please contact us if you know of someone who may be missing.
