It’s Admission Season at HRA!

Join Hampton Roads Academy, an independent, college-prep school for students in Pre-Kindergarten (age 3) through grade12, for an Open House on January 26 at 2 p.m. Tour HRA's new Lower School Wing and Dining Hall, meet faculty and students, visit classrooms and learn what it’s like to be part of the HRA community.  HRA is proud to have many military families a part of their community.

Hampton Roads Academy is a "rolling admission" school and is currently accepting applications for 2020/2021.

There are multiple ways to learn more about HRA during Admission season; schedule a personal tour with HRA’s Admission Office visit HRA during Walk-In Wednesdays, any Wednesday from 9 a.m. – noon or join HRA at the Open House on Sunday, January 26 at 2 p.m.

Hampton Roads Academy is an independent college preparatory school for boys and girls in grades pre-Kindergarten through 12.  HRA was founded more than 55 years ago with an enrollment of 60 students. Today HRA enrolls 600 students on the 50-acre suburban campus in Newport News, Virginia.
 
 
While known for its academic rigor, Hampton Roads Academy embraces the whole child philosophy. Character and integrity are more than mere abstractions. There are no locks on student lockers. When class work is done, close to nine out of 10 students are involved in sports and extracurricular activities.
 
One hundred percent of HRA students are accepted to four-year colleges and universities. Of that, 96 percent of graduates are admitted to universities or colleges designated as their top choice.
 
• The student/teacher ratio is 10:1.
• HRA offers more than 50 student-initiated and student-led clubs and activities providing numerous opportunities for students to assume leadership roles both at school and in the community.
• 19 AP courses are regularly offered at HRA. On average, 95 percent of HRA students will graduate with at least one AP class.
• HRA provides bus service to Williamsburg, Gloucester, Yorktown, Smithfield and Suffolk.
• HRA athletes compete on 44 teams in 22 sports.
