MILITARY OFFER FOR VETERANS DAY 2015!

Saturday, November 14 - MILITARY OFFER

Free with Museum admission, $5 tickets to the Museum will be offered to military (active, retired, veterans) first responders, and their immediate family.

"Honor our military with a Veterans Day event for the entire family! Step aboard the Newport News Department patrol boat, explore vessels of local military and rescue teams, learn about life at sea, make-and-take maritime crafts and more!"

The Veteran's Day offer is $5 admission to military personnel (active/retired/veteran).

Liquid Light: Photography Beneath the Sea

There is a world beneath the sea unlike anything seen on land. Liquid Light explores these ocean depths with black-and-white photography, capturing a quality of light that exists only underwater. Many of the pieces in the exhibition bring an awareness to the fragile oceans, and the need to protect and preserve them. Visitors will be amazed by the wildlife portrayed in its natural habitat. Manta rays glide through the water, coordinated schools of akule create amazing shapes, and rockfish swim confidently under the waves. These images were selected by Jeanne Falk Adams, daughter-in-law of noted photographer Ansel Adams and former President and CEO of The Ansel Adams Gallery. The collection draws attention to the photographers capturing a stunningly beautiful and mysterious underwater world.
