About Military in Transition

Why Should I Pay Attention to This?

To summarize in one word:  Community.

Getting out of the military can be hard, and it can feel like there’s no one out there to support you.  While the government does offer help through programs such as Transition Assistance Program (TAP), trying to put it all together can seem impossible, especially when you feel like you’re alone. But you’re not alone.  Everyone in the military eventually gets out, one way or another.

That’s why there’s Military in Transition, a community of people trying to help each other through all of the challenges of post-military life.

Isn’t this just a blog?

Military in Transition isn’t just a blog.  It’s community.  It’s a community that works together to solve its problems.  Because we face problems that a lot of people don’t face.  Because if we don’t solve them, who will?  Because we can help each other.  Because we deserve it.

If there’s a resource out there, we’ll help you find it…or you can help us find it.  If the resource doesn’t exist, we can work together to create it.  If there’s someone that needs our help, we can bring them in to get them on the right path.  If there’s someone that can help us, we can bring them in to help us out.

About the blog…

Right.  The blog is published on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and follows a simple format:

Monday:  Original article.  This is an article that I’ve researched and written, either based upon a topic that someone has asked about, or a topic that I feel is of general interest.  Also, since I’ve decided to chronicle my retirement process, I also use Mondays to post my retirement updates.

Wednesday:  Ten Questions With…  Ten Questions is a series of articles that aims to help readers understand other peoples’ perspectives.

Friday:  Weekend Wrap-up.  While I try to stay on top of articles as I read them, and send them out on Twitter or the Military in Transition Group Page, I understand that people might be too busy in the week to read them all (I often am)!  So, I try to pick five of the most engaging articles that I’ve read and put them in an easy weekly post for your benefit.

How do I start?

Simple.  Just ask.  Below is a guideline of some simple steps you can take to engage in the community.  Jump in or dip your toes…whatever you feel comfortable with.  However, once you’re here, you’ll get as much out of this as your level of engagement.  If all you want is to read a couple of articles, that’s great.  If you really want more, then ask!  Whatever you want–post a question on the Facebook page, send me an email, or whatever…the sky’s the limit!  All you need to do is ask.
