St. John's Church

The summer reenactment events of Patrick Henry's famous speech are free.

Reservations are available for groups of ten or more for fee of $5 per person, up to 100 reserved seats.

The guided tours require a small fee.

St. John's Church is the location of the Second Virginia Convention that occured in 1775. It was attended by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Richad Henry Lee, and other important figures from the American Revolution. This site is where Patrick Henry gave his now-famous “Give me liberty or give me death” speech.

Located in Richmond’s oldest standing neighborhood, Church Hill, the c. 1741 church also features a permanent exhibit that delve into the area’s history, including events leading to the war.
