The Armed Services YMCA enhances the lives of military members and their families in spirit, mind, and body through programs relevant to the unique challenges of military life. Our focus is to provide needed programs and services for single or married junior enlisted personnel and their family members. The Armed Services YMCA Hampton Roads empowers military families, no matter who they are or where they’re from, by ensuring access to resources, relationships, and opportunities for all to learn, grow, and thrive.

Founded in 1881 on the battlefields of the Civil War, The Armed Services YMCA Hampton Roads’ mission is rooted in enhancing the lives of our military members and their families through programs relevant to the unique challenges of military life. The ASYMCA Hampton Roads empowers military families, no matter who they are or where they’re from, by ensuring access to resources, relationships, and opportunities for all to learn, grow, and thrive.

Our programs include a no-cost food pantry for active-duty military families, free parent-and-me classes for children ages 18 months-5 years old, before and after school care for school-aged children and a Purple-Star accredited Pre-K program, all lead by fellow members of our local military family. We are also proud to host several events for our military community throughout the year including our ‘Hearts For Heroes’ fishing trip for disabled veterans, and our Father Daughter & Military Child Ball.
