The Hugs Project, started May, 2004 in Oklahoma by Ray and Karen Stark, and is a non profit 501 C 3 organization.
The Hugs Project is a nonprofit organization that provides care packages and handmade items to U.S. troops deployed overseas. Founded with the mission of sending “hugs from home,” the organization creates and ships cooling neckties, called “hugs,” along with other comfort items, letters of support, and essentials. The Hugs Project aims to boost the morale of service members by reminding them that they are appreciated and not forgotten, offering a tangible expression of gratitude and care.
We consider it an honor to be able to help some of America’s finest men and women serving in our Military. Our hope is that every American citizen in the Middle East can receive a “hug from home”. They are really easy to make and our troops over in the sandbox love them, along with all the goodies we send them.
Our group has sent out over 1.9 MILLION “hugs”, 300,000 “kisses” (helmet coolers), and more than 900 TONS of care package items. We are committed to improving quality of life for our dedicated U.S. Military Troops.

Opportunities include: Volunteer, hold a care package item drive where you work or where your children go to school, have a fund raiser to help pay postage, write letters to be included in care package, bake some homemade goodies….write a check or donate via the PayPal link at www.TheHugsProject.com
The OKC group meets every W, Th and Sat from 10-4 and you don’t have to sew to come help. Even children can help by decorating the shipping boxes with crayons and markers. You can come and stay just an hour or come and work with us all day.
