The good news? While the name has changed, the mission hasn’t.

Why Did SECO Become SpouseWorks?

The War Department Office of Spouse Employment introduces SpouseWorks (formerly SECO), marking a new era of career and education support that helps military spouses grow skills, get career advice and find jobs. While the name has changed, the commitment to helping military spouses build meaningful careers remains the same.

What Does SpouseWorks Offer?

Whether you’re searching for your first job, changing careers, working remotely, or returning to the workforce after a PCS, SpouseWorks offers free resources designed specifically for military spouses.

SpouseWorks focuses on three distinct areas: Growing Skills, Career Advice, and Finding a Job.

1. Free Career Coaching

One of the most valuable benefits is personalized career coaching.

Career coaches can help you:

• Explore career options
• Build or update your resume
• Improve interview skills
• Develop a job search strategy
• Navigate career changes after a PCS
• Create long-term career goals

Career coaching is completely free for eligible military spouses.

2. Military Spouse Job Board

Finding employment after a move can be one of the biggest challenges military spouses face.

The SpouseWorks Job Board includes opportunities from more than 1,000 employer partners that have committed to recruiting, hiring, promoting, and retaining military spouses.

You can search for:

• Remote jobs
• Full-time positions
• Part-time opportunities
• Flexible careers
• Jobs near your current or future duty station

3. Military Spouse Employer Partnership (MSEP)

The Military Spouse Employer Partnership (MSEP) remains one of the cornerstone programs within SpouseWorks.

Employers in the network actively seek military spouse talent and understand challenges such as:

• Frequent relocations
• Employment gaps
• Licensing transfers
• Remote work needs

This makes it easier to connect with companies that value military spouses and their unique experience.

4. SpouseWorks Scholarship (Formerly MyCAA)

The MyCAA Scholarship is now called the SpouseWorks Scholarship.

Eligible military spouses may receive up to:

• $4,000 in tuition assistance
• Up to $2,000 per year

The scholarship can be used toward:

• Professional licenses
• Certifications
• Associate degrees
• Continuing education
• National testing required for approved career fields

Eligibility requirements remain the same despite the new name.

Who Can Use SpouseWorks?

SpouseWorks is generally available to eligible military spouses, including spouses of:

• Active-duty service members
• National Guard members
• Reserve members on qualifying orders
• NEW: Coast Guard spouses can now access SpouseWorks career coaching, job search support and professional development resources to help achieve their career goals.

What’s Changed?

Mostly the name and branding.

Everything military spouses relied on through SECO—including career coaching, scholarships, job resources, and employer partnerships—continues under the new SpouseWorks name. No action is required for current users, and existing eligibility and services remain in place.
